Tiger's Den Vol 35 - Letter

Hola Tigres,

Happy Sunday, and a joyous Asian-American and Pacific Island Heritage Month to you! Fiesta Asia in DC this weekend was in full joyous splendor, and student members of Asamble are planning a celebration at OA as well. More to come!

This week we're celebrating our students' artistry and linguistic brilliance, and calling on our community to bring our best visual artists to create installations in the new Adams building!

Congratulations to Our Amazing Spellers! 🎉

We are thrilled to celebrate our outstanding students for their incredible performance at the DC Citywide Spanish Spelling Bee! 🏆

A huge congratulations to our champions, Annika Pinol and Emil Armada who placed 1st and 2nd respectively — your hard work, dedication, and talent have truly paid off! Winning the competition is a testament to the students' incredible focus, investment, and dedication to loving their brilliant bilingualism. Annika has placed 1st in the citywide competition for the second time in a row, and Emil has been working hard to make it to nationals since last year! We are so grateful to Katryna Suarez, Jenny Delgado, and the whole Adams SLA faculty for accompanying them on this journey.

We’re also proud to announce that these students will be representing our community at the Spanish Spelling Bee Nationals in Albuquerque, New Mexico in July!

¡Felicidades y mucho éxito en Albuquerque! Your school and community are cheering you on every step of the way!

Festival de Poesia en Oyster-Adams 📜

Don't forget our annual Poetry Festival, which will take place on May 22nd at Adams and May 23rd at Oyster! For the last few weeks, we've been learning poetry in our Spanish classrooms. The rhythm of the poems engages our students and helps them create their own poems. The festival is an excellent opportunity for students to celebrate the power of words, share their original works, recite memorized ones, and experience the beauty of poetic expression. Please make sure to check your grade level newsletter to find out what time your child is presenting! This wonderful event is usually jam packed, so please make sure you've read your teacher's indications carefully, given that space is limited!
