Good afternoon families,

Thank you to everyone who celebrated Fiesta today at Oyster with us! We enjoyed the presence of Mr. Salvador's band, Tumbao, while we played family organized lawn games and devoured the entire contents of a delicious Peruvian food truck. Our catered gourmet popsicles were amazing, and Mackenzie and Francisco practiced all year to make us handmade tortillas and quesadillas. Inside the cafeteria, we had a mini book fair, balloon animals, a photo booth, and even a face painting booth where many tigritos emerged with stripes!

To wrap up the event, we celebrated (or cried) over the parents' victory in the family-faculty basketball game. Although the families won 26-22, there will be a rematch soon with volleyball 😁...All of this was made possible thanks to the 30 families who gave their time, and more than 15 middle school students who helped us sell tickets and distribute food. We owe a special thanks to Emily Grinstead and Hilary Benson who took months of their time to prepare this OA tradition. Thank you so much for making this joyful community moment possible!

I take this opportunity to remind you that next week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Remember that our partner teachers (educational assistants) are crucial in our classrooms, and we want to celebrate them too! Here is the schedule of recommended celebrations from families for teachers. The OCC has also generously sponsored lunches and massages this week for us! Room parents can reach out to let you know if your teacher has a specific preference for their themed day.
