Tiger's Den Vol 30 - Letter

Good evening families,

In this week's edition, we celebrate the talents that our Tigers grow and showcase within our community. A special congrats goes to our Alice in Wonderland production, which included not only a powerful musical repertoire, but also a phenomenal art installation to draw the audience up the stairs. It is a privilege to showcase our emerging artists, whose personality, hidden talents, and public presence shine on stage. Thank you to our teachers and families who created space for students to find their gifts outside the classroom. In particular, we thank the directors of the show: Ms. Alfaro, Mr. Castro, Dr. Cruz, and of course the army of volunteer families led by the unparalleled Jodee Scissors who makes all this coordination possible. The last show will be tomorrow at 5:30pm, and there is a special invitation for the little ones from PreK to 2nd grade to dress up as the characters from the story. Don't miss it!

This weekend we will also be cheering on two of the students from the Adams Debate Club. Maite and Zander will represent us and the Washington Urban Debate League at the Middle School National Championship. Check out this website for more details! We wish them tremendous luck and success in their efforts. A warm thank you to Christine Miller, Stacie Dennis, and Ms. Ferris who have motivated and led a group of young people to dedicate themselves to civic discourse, solidarity with one another, and joy in deep reasoning and oracy. We are incredibly proud of our Tigers!

Two Exciting Announcements

  1. Don’t forget that this Saturday, March 28 from 9:00 to 11:30am there will be a bake sale to raise funds for the 8th grade trip to Costa Rica! Our students will be present at the Woodley Park Metro station before the “No Kings” protests. We appreciate the students and families who will dedicate their Saturday morning to support their class so that everyone can participate in the trip to Costa Rica!

  2. Our STEM Program would love your support. The OA Notre Dame STEM Fellows — Ms. Schuettpelz, Sra. Mazier, Ms. Santos, and Ms. Foley — are inviting you to take a quick 10‑minute survey designed to explore how STEM naturally supports and enriches our dual‑language program. Your responses are completely anonymous, and the Notre Dame STEM Fellows will use them to help shape a thoughtful, school‑wide blueprint for strengthening STEM teaching and learning at OA. Thank you so much for taking a moment to complete this 3‑question survey. Your voice truly helps guide our work!

Proudly,

Carolina Brito, Principal
