Tiger's Den Vol 16 - Letter
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this year’s Oyster-Adams tree sale—one of our community’s most beloved winter traditions. Our crew of parent and student volunteers put in tireless early-morning set-ups, night-time clean-ups, and a whole lot of holiday spirit. The energy, teamwork, and good cheer added some much needed joy to the neighborhood! Thank you to everyone who believes in our school, and is willing to invest time and treasures to continue OA's historical legacy of bilingualism and biculturalism for our young people.
We are still awaiting the final totals from both the students fundraisers and the OCC tree and merchandise sales, but the early count was well over $20,000! If you haven’t had the chance to hit up the OCC Merchandise yet, let me personally recommend the Oyster-Adams socks—I might have to go back and get some more pairs...

In other lovely OA news, a major shout-out to our remarkable 7th Grade students who led their first Art Exhibition experience at Adams! Our scholars engaged with the rich histories and artistic traditions of nearly 90 Indigenous tribes across Latin America, translating their research and discoveries into thoughtful, meaningful creations. Each student could tell you the design inspiration, the materials that their tribes engaged in, and their traditional use!
This remarkable project has been years in the making. Ms. Palacios undertook extensive background research and gathered resources to ensure students could explore these cultures with depth, respect, and curiosity. Her dedication—and the students’ hard work—are evident in every piece on display.
Both of these achievements highlight what makes Oyster-Adams such a vibrant and inspiring place: a community that works hard together, opens students to new worlds, and serves the community we inhabit daily!
If you'd like to learn more about how to contribute to Oyster-Adams in creative ways whether through OCC, LSAT, coaching sports, serving as a room parent, supporting your fellow families navigating changing immigration policy, or giving a couple hours to support an event, come to the first volunteer potluck on January 9th! Whether you've never volunteeered or are a veteran tiger supporter, come and hang out with us! Bring your favorite dish and meet some incredible fellow families.Check out the post in "Parent Leadership."
Un abrazo fuerte,
Carolina Brito, Directora
