Tiger's Den Vol 12 - Letter

Dear Oyster-Adams Families,

What a remarkable week it’s been at Oyster-Adams. Our students, staff, and families continue to show what makes our school remarkable—solidarity, empathy, and joyful connection. Today I share with you both our joyful and bittersweet moments, because the two always coexist when we’re in a genuine community. Our joyfulness builds resilience for the harder moments, and the challenges keep us grounded in what matters most.

Kindness Walk and Spirit Week Celebrations!
Thank you to everyone who participated in our annual Kindness Walk and OA Spirit Week! Yesterday at Oyster, students paraded through the neighborhood in their favorite costumes while collecting canned goods and nonperishable items to support families in our community.  A special thank you to our parent volunteers who moved hundreds of pounds of groceries to the food bank! Meanwhile at Adams, the crew outdid themselves with their various group themed costumes--including our 6th Grade faculty who made a point to tackle this year's vexing social media trend...(for context)

Student Leadership and Solidarity

The Duarte-Perez Family gave us permission to share this with our community. One of our tigers leaves the country next week because his family’s TPS status is being wrenched away. In solidarity, the 5th grade student body composed a song for their beloved friend to say farewell. The 5th Grade Team celebrated his last day in the outdoor courtyard chanting his name, and whipped up a 5th Grade choir (directed by students!) to honor him in song. We know the Duarte-Pérez family isn't the only one facing this terrible decision, so please don't forget to check out our community support resources (link below in this newsletter). We want to face what's coming together and support in any way we can.

💛 Community Support Resources
As you know, so many of our families are being impacted by the government shut-down, the current immigration situation, and so many other less public stressors. Please know that our Social Work and Counseling Team is here to help. If your family could use extra support or connections to resources, you can fill out our Help Request Form (linked below in the newsletter as well). All requests are handled with care and confidentiality.
