Tiger's Den Vol 11 - Letter

Greeting OA Families,

We hope you had a restful weekend and enjoyed the brilliant Fall foliage. As we approach Dia de los Muertos, I want to thank our incredible Julieta and Raúl Mendoza for their annual gift of los altares on both campuses. They spend late night hours every year creating brilliant displays for our students to mark the Day of the Dead tradition. Without this generosity, we wouldn't be the same OA community, and we should acknowledge these gestures with all our heart and affection. Mendoza family, thank you for enriching our daily experience and helping us honor our ancestors!

This year they truly outdid themselves in the installations, as you'll see at the Oyster entrance and near the cafeteria at Adams. If you see the Mendoza family, please make sure you thank them personally for this gift for all our students!

In other celebratory news, the Oyster-Adams Cross Country team wrapped up an amazing season with an outstanding showing at the DCIAA Championship Meet!  Every single runner—boys and girls—set a personal record last week. The girls’ team captured first place in the entire district, and our incredible 5th grader Edith Cater finished second overall! What an inspiring and unforgettable end to a phenomenal season!

The OA middle school boys and girls cross country team had an impressive showing at the the DCIAA championship meet. The girls finished fifth overall with the top five runners placed among the top 35 MS runners in the entire District! The boys team came home with a third place trophy and top three finishers among the top 10! We are so proud of their accomplishments and look forward to another successful season next year.

Finally, don't forget that this week is Spirit Week at OA!

  1. Monday: Pajama day
  2. Tuesday: Sport /Jersey Day
  3. Wednesday: Dress up as an OA teacher
  4. Thursday: OA Colors Day (wear your OA T-shirt or blue or yellow colors to celebrate OA)
  5. Friday: Kindness Walk at Oyster only. Costumes for all of OA. Please note that costumes that include weapons or are associated with violence are NOT allowed on either campus.

Come in your best gear!

Un abrazo,
