Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month Celebrations
We are grateful for all the meaningful celebrations of our Hispanic and Latino Heritage. Last Friday, our community gathered to carry the spirit of unity and appreciation for our culture. La Noche was an amazing testament to our diversity and inclusion. We have big shout outs to all staff members and parents who made this another success.
Let’s continue fostering this sense of community that is rooted in and strengthened by our differences. To develop an authentic sense of belonging, we need to create mirrors and windows for our students to see themselves reflected everywhere in our school. October 15 should not be the end of these celebrations; it should be the beginning!
Announcements
- We want to remind families that students will not have classes on Thursday and Friday this week due to Parent Teacher Conferences and Professional Development for all staff.
- To provide more time for families to plan accordingly, we have moved the in-person Oyster Cafecito with the admin team to next week. The new date is Tuesday, October 24 from 9:00-10:00 a.m.
- Please be mindful that some staff members have reported receiving an email from my email address asking folks to click on a link... that is scam. Please do not click on the link. It has been reported. I have not heard anything from families, but it may happen.
- We want to give a shout out to OCC for hosting a faculty meeting for our staff to speak about OCC and all the ways they support our school mission and vision.
- Adams: We’re still waiting for the transfer of the crossing guard from Marie Reed to Adams and for the parking signs for the buses. We’ll keep you updated on that.
- Middle School Progress Reports will be available this afternoon in ASPEN.
- Starting Tuesday, October 10, our current meal payments portal, MySchoolBucks, will be replaced by a new meal payment solution: LINQ Connect. You can learn more about this shift and how it impacts your school community in [this Q&A document](../../../../post/important-update-to-dcps-meal-payment-portal-on-october-10-2023
