Tiger's Den Vol 32 - Letter
Buenas tardes familias,
We hope you are having an adventurous and restful Spring Break with your children! In anticipation of our tigers returning on Monday, we want to celebrate our wins before Break, and keep you in the loop on the plethora of exciting events awaiting us in April and May.
First off, a huge shout-out to our entire Oyster campus for their enthusiastic participation in the STEM Showcase. Our students impressed us with their curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Thanks to your little ones, I got a chance to play with levitation inventions, eggshell geodes, and light bulbs powered by lemons! We extend our heartfelt thanks to the generous caregivers who generously volunteered and mentored during the STEM Showcase. Your time, dedication, and presence made a meaningful difference in the experience for our students. Because of you, our students had the opportunity to share their thinking, receive thoughtful feedback, and feel proud of their learning.
We would also like to recognize 7th Grader, Maeve Newman who represented us in the 44th Annual Citywide Spelling Bee. This impressive endeavor serves to "build confidence, sharpen discipline and face pressure head-on," lessons which we know that Maeve masters daily inside and outside of the classroom at OA. Families can also view student participation in the Spelling Bee beginning April 15 on the District of Columbia Entertainment (DCE) streaming network. Maeve, we're proud of your confidence, perseverance, and a deep commitment to learning both inside and outside the classroom!

We also want to celebrate 8th Grader, Francesco Dafflito who represented Oyster-Adams in DC History Day. He earned First Place in the state contest for his individual documentary as part of a year-long National History Day 2026 research project! Francesco’s project, “Power of Language,” explores the impact of the Navajo Code Talkers and will advance to the national competition in June. We are so proud of this outstanding accomplishment, and highly recommend that you watch Francesco’s project here. Thank you for living our mission through your commitment to studying multilingualism and its contributions to American History!

Families, thanks for taking the time to read our shout-outs, and we highly recommend that you take a look at:
- Spring Picture Day (first one on Monday!)
- Enrollment for SY27
- OCC Meeting this Thursday
- All the impressive student opportunities for volunteering, Free Debate Camp, Spring Dances and much more at Adams!
With pride and appreciation,
Carolina Brito
