Tiger's Den Vol 11 - Letter
Greetings Oyster-Adams families,
I wish you happy celebrations of Diwali, All Saints' Day, and Day of the Dead! I hope you can celebrate it in community and family this weekend. We have much to celebrate in these last days, particularly a successful Book Fair week and the celebration of Spirit Week. I want to acknowledge the tremendous effort of our volunteer families, Ms. Kleinmann (and her husband, the famous Critterdude!), Mr. Burch, Mrs. Benson, and many more who made the impossible possible to set up the Fair over the weekend. They have not stopped working since last Saturday. They sacrificed their time with love to inaugurate and continue the 29 years of this tradition at OA. Even our 8th Graders really got into the opportunity to do a read aloud on the rug! We owe our OA librarians deep gratitude for ensuring that all our students have means to obtain a book, regardless of financial barriers.
This week, we also celebrated the kindness walk that over 100 families attended at Oyster! It was a unique experience to applaud each student as they came out of the doors. And we were able to raise a significant food donation before the event. Thank you for your generosity and participation in a beautiful tradition at OA, which connects us to the needs of our city.
As I announced in my letter last week, I know that next week will be tense for our country. This week I briefly met with both campuses to plan support for our students in their emotional and psychological health, and support the focus on learning. On PD Monday with the teachers, we will finish this training and continue planning our study units to enrich your students' experience. On Wednesday when the students return, we will focus on our collective school values, and the decisions we make every day that make us a supportive community.
With gratitude for our Tiger community,
Carolina Brito, Principal
