Principal Search Update
LSAT leadership, OCC leadership, and the Washington Teachers Union (WTU) building representative have been in communication with District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) to plan for the Oyster-Adams Bilingual School principal search process.
As promised to the community in December 2023, DCPS remains committed to a nationwide principal search. They are already identifying networks and principal pipelines to recruit and attract external candidates for the Oyster-Adams principal vacancy.
Also as promised to the community in December, here is the DCPS principal job announcement–please share this widely! As a reminder, this is a generic announcement for all DCPS schools, and applicants interested in Oyster-Adams are encouraged to apply by February 20, 2024.
We need YOU! Additionally, if you are a parent, caregiver or teacher with skills in video recording/editing/producing, we need your help! We have the opportunity to develop a short two-minute video to show candidates what makes our community special and why they should apply. This video can also be used on social media to promote the principal job announcement. Please reach out to us as soon as possible if you can help.
More info. The principal interviews will occur in April. In addition to the chair of LSAT, the OCC chair, and the WTU building representative, community members (parents, staff, students) will have representation on the interview panel. DCPS will send out a nomination form in April–community members can either nominate themselves or others to be on the confidential interview panel. Unfortunately, spots on the panel are limited but we believe the whole community needs to contribute to this process. We plan to engage the whole community through a survey after the DCPS budget process to ensure our equities are considered.
We look forward to sharing more information as we get it from DCPS!
