Newsletter - May 2nd

I hope everyone is finally enjoying this weather we are having. Our students have returned from Tawain earlier this week and we are so grateful for all the families who trusted us with their little people and the chaperones who accompanied our kids and made this rich cultural experience possible for our students. We are completing Middle School Language Arts CAPE this week and look to close out CAPE at the Adams campus next week as Middle Schoolers complete the Math portion of the assessment. Oyster campus will begin CAPE in grade 3 next week. Below are a few updates.

Re-enrollment Support:

Elba, our school registrar for the Adams Campus will be on site next week till 5:00 pm to support our families in re-enrolling on Monday May 6th, Tuesday May 7th and Friday May 10th.

National Bike & Roll to School (with Councilmember Frumin!) - Wed, May 8 @ 8:15 am

Join us for a special Bicis to Oyster celebrating National Bike & Roll to School with dedicated community activist and longtime Ward 3 resident Councilmember Matt Frumin. We meet at Walter Pierce @ 8:15am on Wed, May 8th.

Fiesta this Saturday:

Fiesta is going to be amazing this year (check out the schedule!), but only if we have enough volunteers to help! Sign Up Today! Older students, older siblings, OA alumni, and adults can volunteer. If you can’t or don’t want to volunteer for a whole timeslot, split it with a partner and indicate the second person’s name and contact info in the comment section of the SignUp Genius.  And don’t forget to re-enroll your students so everyone has a chance to DUNK INTERIM PRINCIPAL MELIOTIS!

Shout out to 8th Grader Sowmya Boominathan:

She placed third in this year’s School Without Walls Math competition in the initial stage. She moved on to the finals and placed 7th among several students from across DC. Great job representing us Sowmya and congrats to Boominathan family for this wonderful accomplishment. Please join me in celebrating them.
