FAQ

When is OCA open?

OCA is open from 3:15pm to 6:00pm (6:15pm at Adams). OCA is closed when DC public schools are closed (check out the calendar) or when DCPS cancels afternoon activities for weather-related reasons. Read more about the schedule.

How much is OCA tuition?

OCA tuition is available on a sliding scale for families making <$150,000 per year. See the rates here.

Does OCA offer field trips?

Yes! OCA is typically open on Professional Development Days and Record Keeping Days from 9:00am to 6:00pm. For an extra fee, students have the opportunity to go on fun field trips (for example, roller skating, trampoline parks, etc.).

Does OCA offer enrichment activities?

Yes! Enrichment classes are created by OCA for OCA families to help our working parents that can’t shuttle their kids around to activities after school. We typically offer a wide variety of classes like art, chess, yoga, drama, soccer, karate, basketball, robotics, ballet, hip hop dance, Girls on the Run etc. Classes are popular and fill quickly; these are optional and there are fees.

Who are the OCA staff?

Our amazing staff is led by Executive Director Connie Artiga-Oliver and Assistant Director Sylvia Segovia. Connie has been the Director of OCA since 1998. She is a graduate of Oyster-Adams and a mother of three OA grads.

OCA teachers are carefully selected to create a warm, nurturing environment where social growth is promoted through play. Bilingual staff are available in each room for homework assistance. Many OCA teachers are former Oyster-Adams and OCA graduates, and some have gone on to become assistant teachers and lead teachers in OA classrooms.
