Message From Oyster Music Teacher
We started to get ready for the concert titled “Family Traditions and Celebrations for the End of the Year”. I’m sure that each Oyster family has a tradition or a celebration for the end of the year. We are lucky to be a multicultural community, and I want our children to learn and share about these traditions and celebrations.
The essential question for this unit is: What music do we sing or listen to during these traditions or celebrations, and how do we use it to foster family harmony?
I will be highlighting the most common celebrations in our community such as Halloween, Dia de los Muertos, Diwali, Thanksgiving, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, and Christmas. I also acknowledge that some families do not celebrate any holidays. It is for that reason that I’m providing a broad repertoire.
I know that many celebrations imply certain religious beliefs, and I want you to know that I will only be addressing it from a cultural perspective.
The concert will happen on the morning of December 18th. Please see the details below.
If you have any problem that your child singing these songs, please contact me as soon as possible at [email protected]
