During the 2022-2023 school year We worked hard and we played hard. The Oyster-Adams Community Council (OCC) is proud to have accomplished so much last year:
- Provided a full budget to every teacher for classroom materials for students.
- Provided additional funds for tutoring to help reduce pandemic learning loss, and give teachers a more competitive wage.
- Funded the Raz Kids app for all students.
- Held a vaccine clinic for the community.
- Hosted three 123 Andrés concerts for children and the community.
- Welcomed La Noche back with a celebration of food and culture.
- Hosted a Parents v. Teachers soccer match.
- Fundraised for our awesome libraries at the Book Fair.
- Cut the ribbon on our new playground at the Oyster campus.
- Fundraised at the Holiday Tree Sale, Game Night, and at Child’s Play.
- Provided you with a school directory.
- Celebrated our rich culture during Black History Month and Spanish Heritage Month.
- Held fundraising community events at DC United and Washington Spirit games.
- FIESTA returned to the Adams Campus with so many games and activities!
- Sponsored the Middle School Showcase.
- Coordinated Bike to School Friday events.
- Funded fun-filled field days for all grades.
- Appreciated our teachers and staff through gifts of food. And more food.
- Funded teacher training to enhance skill sets and supplemented aides serving as full substitutes.
- Funded field trips for every grade.
- Successfully advocated for improvements to the Adams campus modernization project.
- Successfully advocated to be made whole for the Oyster-Adams 2023-2024 budget through DCPS.
- Connected you with Room Parents who kept you informed throughout the year in partnership with teachers.
- Helped keep you up-to-date with emails and social media postings daily and weekly.
- AND built us a new website from the ground up, with love.
