Adriana Antunez de Mayolo is excited to join the Oyster-Adams family as a 5th grade teacher in 2017. She is excited to work with OA’s diverse community! Previous to being in this position, Ms. Antunez de Mayolo taught for 10 years in DC. She moved to DC from Miami in 2007, as a corps member of Teach for America. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and psychology from the University of Miami, and a master’s degree in elementary education from American University. Ms. Antunez de Mayolo developed a passion for teaching in high school when she realized that she felt happiest when she was in a classroom. She loves the “a ha moments”- moments when kids have a profound realization about the stories they are reading. When Ms. Antunez de Mayolo is not teaching she enjoys reading children’s literature, exercising, hanging out with friends, and traveling.
