Mrs. Buhera has been teaching in Washington DC for 5 years and is excited to begin her journey at Oyster-Adams! She grew up in Massachusetts and went to college at the University of Hartford in Connecticut. She studied abroad for 6 months in Botswana and had the opportunity to teach, volunteer, and travel all around southern Africa! Her experiences working as a classroom teacher and a special education teacher has taught her the importance of building meaningful relationships with each student in order to help them reach success. Mrs. Buhera’s priority is building a safe learning community that guides her students in becoming cooperative, confident, curious, and courageous citizens of the world. When Mrs. Buhera isn’t in the classroom, she enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her friends and husband (just married on 8/18/18)!
