Safety and Security at Oyster-Adams
Oyster-Adams has extensive security protocols to protect our children, families and staff. But these measures require your participation and support. Please review the following key safety measures:
Entering and Exiting Campus:
All visitors must enter through the front door only and sign in with the security guard. Visitors must be prepared to show ID if requested by the guard.
Front doors will remain locked at all times except during morning dropoff until 9:00 am and afternoon pickup until 3:30 pm.
OCA after-care:
When picking up students, families must enter and exit through the FRONT DOOR of the school ONLY –and must sign in upon entry. Currently some parents are using other entrances, which breaks our security rules and leaves our kids vulnerable. At Oyster, families often leave the door by the gym wide open, which creates a security risk. And at Adams, parents sometimes go through the unlocked gate (on the Hilton Hotel side of the school) to reach the playground. Please do NOT enter this way.
Update on broken garage door at the Oyster Campus:
Parents have expressed concern about the parking garage at the Oyster campus because the garage door is broken and won’t shut. Please know that at any time the garage door is non-functioning, the school implements extra security measures to ensure no one can enter the school through the garage. Inside the garage a door and an elevator provide access to the school. These two entrances will be will be kept locked throughout the day to ensure safety. Custodians are doing walkthroughs at 8:45 and 9:00 am –and throughout the day –to make sure both are locked daily until the garage door is fixed.
