WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Teacher Wish Lists – OA teachers will have lists of books they would like for their classrooms. Please consider buying a book (or more) for them. Teacher wish lists can be found on hanging folders on the panels next to the cashiers.
Money – If your child is old enough to manage money, you may want to send cash in a labeled envelope for buying a book during school hours. Also, students will be filling out wish lists for themselves so that parents can come back to purchase books for them. Opening hours listed above.
Books for Tigres – this coupon distribution program helps ensure that all students, regardless of family income, can purchase a book at the fair. It is also a great example of how OCC funds are used to benefit those who otherwise may not be able to afford to participate.
Class Visits – Oyster students will be going to the Book Fair during their normal library time. Adams students will be making a field trip to visit the Book Fair and parents will be informed of their kids’ schedule in their weekly email. Below is the class trips schedule for 4th – 8th grade.

Why is our book fair so popular and celebrated?
Why is the Oyster-Adams Book fair so celebrated? Now in its 25th year, our book fair offers DC-area readers and educators an unparalleled collection of over 500 high-quality books by authors from Spain and Latin America. The mission of Oyster-Adams is that our students become bilingual and bi-cultural. Students need to be academically fluent–not just socially–and children need access to tools that enable them to understand other cultures—cultures that are represented in these books.

Lista de Deseos de los Profesores – los profesores de Oyster-Adams tendrán listas de deseos de los libros que les gustaría utilizar en sus salones de clase. Por favor considera comprar un libro (o varios) para ellos. Las listas de deseos de los profesores se pueden encontrar en los fólderes que están colgados en los paneles al lado de las cajas.
Dinero – si tu hijo(a) tiene la edad suficiente para manejar dinero por sí mismo(a), puedes enviar dinero en un sobre marcado para que él/ella compre libros durante las horas escolares. Adicionalmente, los estudiantes diligenciarán listas de deseos para ellos mismos con el fin que sus padres conozcan sus preferencias y puedan regresar a la feria a comprar los libros para ellos.
Libros para los Tigres – este es un programa de distribución de cupones para asegurar que todos los estudiantes, independientemente del ingreso familiar, pueden comprar libros en la Feria. También es un excelente ejemplo para mostrar como los fondos de OCC se utilizan para beneficiar a aquellos estudiantes que, de otra forma, no pueden proporcionarse un libro.
Visitas de las Clases – los estudiantes de Oyster asistirán a la Feria del Libro durante su tiempo regular asignado a la biblioteca. Los estudiantes de Adams harán un viaje de campo para la visitar la Feria del Libro y los padres serán informados del horario de sus niños a través del email semanal. EL horario de los viajes de los diferentes cursos desde 4º hasta 8º grado.
