Art Club -4th & 5th Grades
This fall I will offer art club for 4th and 5th graders on Wednesdays at lunch and recess (11:50 am at 12:50 pm). The club starts this Wednesday, September 25. Students may come at lunch time or at recess, or both. In this club students can choose from different stations, each with 3 or 4 different activities, including independent work and a projects with teachers. Students can register now. Come to my classroom and sign up — I will remind them of registration time this week.
Duke Ellington Club
The Duke Ellington club is for 8th graders who want to attend Duke Ellington art school. Students work on the portfolios they need for the interview and application process. The portfolio consists of 5 drawings created by the student, including a self-portrait, an emblematic place, a closet, a bicycle and a free drawing.
- An information meeting will be October 23 from 3:30 to 4 pm.
- The club will meet every Thursday from October 31 until January 23 from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.

Hispanic Heritage Month

Students are working on decorations for our Hispanic Night event. 4th graders are working on drawing their favorite animals in Boterismo style, created by the Colombian artist Fernando Botero. 5th graders are working on the creation of a poster to represent the culture of different Hispanic countries. 6th graders are working on creating a poster to honor Hispanics who have influenced our community. 7th and 8th graders are working on illustrating Spanish-language songs.
Tiempo de Club
Es tiempo de pasar tiempo con los chicos que aman el arte. Este otoño ofreceré el club de arte para los alumnos de 4to y 5to grado. El club se llevará a cabo los miércoles a la hora de almuerzo y recreo (11:50 am a las 12:50 pm). Los alumnos tendrán la opción de venir al club en su tiempo de almuerzo o en su tiempo de recreo o en ambos. En este club los alumnos tendrán estaciones que podrán escoger. Las estaciones consisten en 3 o 4 actividades diferentes, incluyendo un sitio de trabajo independiente y una estación donde trabajarán conmigo en algún proyecto. Los alumnos se podrán inscribir esta semana. Ellos pueden venir a mi salón e inscribirse—les recordaré esta semana las inscripciones. El Club empieza este miércoles 25 de septiembre.
También tendré el club de Duke Ellington. Este club es para los estudiantes de 8vo grado que quieran asistir a la escuela de arte Duke Ellington. Los alumnos trabajarán en sus portafolios para la entrevista en esta escuela. El portafolio consiste en 5 dibujos creados por el alumno, incluyendo un autorretrato, un lugar emblemático, un closet, una bicicleta y un dibujo libre. La junta de información será el 23 de octubre de 3:30 a 4 pm. Nuestro club se reunirá todos los jueves a partir del 31 de octubre hasta el 23 de enero de 3:30 a 4:30 pm.

Estoy a su disposición en mis horas de oficinas para cualquier asunto relacionado con sus hijos. Mis horas de oficinas son los jueves de 3:30 a 4:30 pm. Las horas de oficinas para los estudiantes son martes y miércoles de 12:50 a 1: 40 pm o jueves de 3:30 a 4:30 pm para cualquier asunto relacionado con sus grados o reponer trabajos atrasados
Celebremos la Herencia Hispana
Los estudiantes están trabajando en las decoraciones para nuestro evento de la Noche Hispana. Cuarto grado trabaja en el dibujo de sus animales favoritos en estilo Boterismo, creado por el artista colombiano Fernando Botero. Quinto grado está trabajando en la creación de un póster para representar la cultura de diferentes países hispanos. Sexto grado está trabajando en la creación de un póster para honrar a los hispanos que han influido en nuestra comunidad. Séptimo y octavo grado están trabajando de la ilustración de canciones hispanas.
