| We had another amazing week with many things to celebrate and recognize – I hope I do not miss anything. Please take a few minutes to review some of the main events, information, and reminders. As usual, continue reaching out directly to school with your questions, comments, or suggestions. What a great week! We would like to thank all families for attending our Mix and Mingles (Pk-5th grade) last week, the turnout was great. We are especially appreciative of the room parent reps for their support. We also want to thank Ashely Darcy Mahoney for coordinating a successful vaccination clinic at the Oyster campus. Twenty staff members participated in an intense and advanced SIOP training to leverage our dual language practices at school and to support all language learners (English and Spanish). We also have ten other staff members completing self-paced foundation SIOP training to start using in their classes. We also did great in sports; I know that our boys and girls won their matches this week. We are so proud of them. We had great meetings with members of LSAT and OCC to partner up with the school to help us accomplish the goals we have this year. Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month We will continue celebrating the Hispanic and Latino Heritage throughout the month. One of the culminating activities will be La Noche on October 14. That night, we would like to display a collage of photographs of our Latino/a/e/x and Hispanic students and staff. Ms. Palacios will lead the project, but she needs your permission and your interest in having your students participate. Please complete the following short form if that is the case. OCC has coordinated for Andres 123 to perform tomorrow at the Oyster campus. He is a Latin Grammy winner for best children’s album, he has also been nominated for the same award three times. Happy Rosh Hashanah We would like to wish all families in our community who celebrate Rosh Hashanah a great year. Shanah Tovah. Adams’ Renovation We would like to thank the parents and guardians who shared their questions about swing space and transportation for next year. We are committed to continue collaborating with our families to support our tigers in this transition and to ensure that we include multiple voices and perspectives in the design of our school. We’ll invite all families to the community events as soon as the district schedules those meetings. We’ll also share information as it becomes available. Parent Teacher Conferences (PTC) We’re pleased to announce that this year our PTC will be hybrid. Parents and guardians will have the option to meet teachers in person or virtually. By using this format, we strive to increase access to all families to communicate with the school. You’ll receive the specific details in grade level newsletters. One of our school Priorities: Incorporation of Whole Child Practices As a school community, we have a critical and challenging task of creating classrooms that support each child and their holistic development. This way our tigers will know their worth, discover their interests/passions, and develop their skills, competencies, and identities. Our staff will continue receiving professional development to design the best learning experiences based on the framework. We’ll share additional information over the year. | How can you access last year’s PARCC scores for your students? OSSE has shared with school that they will send students’ individual hard copies at the end of the month. You can also find the results online on OSSE’s website. If you choose to request the documents through OSSE, please use this website to download and complete the Education Records Disclosure Authorization Form and send it to Yvonne.Huelcher@dc.gov. |
| Tuvimos otra semana increíble con muchas cosas para celebrar y reconocer, espero no haber omitido nada. Tómense unos minutos para revisar algunos de los principales eventos, información y recordatorios. Como de costumbre, continúen comunicándose directamente con la escuela con sus preguntas, comentarios o sugerencias. ¡Qué gran semana! Nos gustaría agradecer a todas las familias por asistir a nuestros Mix and Mingles (Pk-5to grado) la semana pasada, la participación fue excelente. Estamos especialmente agradecidos a los representantes de los room parents su apoyo. También queremos agradecer a Ashely Darcy-Mahoney por coordinar una exitosa clínica de vacunación en el campus de Oyster. Veinte miembros del personal participaron en una capacitación INTENSA y avanzada de SIOP para mejorar nuestras prácticas de enseñanza dos los idiomas en la escuela y apoyar a todo/as los estudiantes aprendices de inglés y español. | ¿Cómo puede acceder a los puntajes PARCC del año pasado para sus estudiantes? OSSE ha compartido con la escuela que enviarán copias impresas individuales de los estudiantes a fin de mes. También puede encontrar los resultados en línea en el sitio web de OSSE website.
