Happy Pride! This month is dedicated to uplifting the voices and support the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. This month gives us an opportunity to recognize self-affirmation and equality. Pride celebrations and events aim to condemn social stigma. Pride month is also a reminder of the Stonewall riots of 1969. DCPS is inviting parents, staff and students to join the Paint the streets with Pride on 6/11.
Ensuring School Safety As we continue to be vigilant after the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, we have revised or safety protocols and would like to share them with you:
- We are enforcing a 100 % I.D. check for all authorized visitors into the building
- All visitors are escorted to the main office
- We check that all exit doors and windows are locked
- School security personnel actively patrol within and around the immediate perimeter of the school buildings
- We constantly monitor CCV video surveillance
- All classrooms have been rekeyed in the past year, and they lock from the inside
- We continue conducting our monthly required and additional drills
- Adults who are not DCPS staff, contractors or do not have an appointment/are not attending school events- are not allowed in the building

Shout out to all participants and organizers of the musical this weekend! We have so many events and activities to celebrate the end of this academic year. ¡Feliz Mes del Orgullo! Este mes está dedicado a elevar las voces y apoyar los derechos de la comunidad LGBTQ +. Este mes nos da la oportunidad de reconocer la autoafirmación y la igualdad. Las celebraciones y eventos del Orgullo tienen como objetivo condenar el estigma social. El mes del Orgullo es también un recordatorio de los disturbios de Stonewall de 1969. DCPS está invitando a los padres, el personal y los estudiantes a unirse a Paint the streets with Pride el 6/11.
Garantizar la seguridad escolar A medida que continuamos vigilantes después de la reciente tragedia en Uvalde, Texas, hemos revisado nuestros protocolos de seguridad y nos gustaría compartirlos con ustedes:
- Estamos aplicando un control de documentos de identificación del 100% para todos los visitantes autorizados en el edificio
- Todos lo/as visitantes son acompañado/as a la oficina principal
- Comprobamos que todas las puertas y ventanas de salida estén cerradas
- El personal de seguridad escolar patrulla activamente dentro y alrededor del perímetro inmediato de los edificios escolares
- Monitoreamos constantemente las cámaras de seguridad CCV
- Todas las llaves de las aulas han sido revisadas en el último año, y se cierran desde el interior
- Continuamos realizando nuestros simulacros mensuales requeridos y adicionales
- Los adultos que no son personal de DCPS, contratistas o que no tienen una cita / no asisten a un evento escolar no están permitidos en el edificio
