Last week during the 8th graders’ promotion, we heard different speeches about how difficult the last year was for all of us. In my remarks, I invited everyone to focus not only on how hard it has been but on everything that we have achieved, considering the circumstances.
Last week teachers submitted their academic year-long progress and reported the significant progress in our tigers across all grade levels. I felt so proud of the work that teachers, teacher partners, and students have done to get those results. Below you will find some charts that compare the beginning of the year (BOY) and end of the year (EOY) data in reading in both languages. We also made significant progress in math and other areas.
Before leaving school on Friday, I attended the ice cream and band event at the veranda at Adams. When I was taking pictures for social media, I realized that we not only grew academically but socially, culturally, and emotionally. I never expected to end this year with so much joy as the one I saw and heard in the voices of our 5th graders singing Cielito Lindo.
It has been a great week and weekend, with so many things to be happy about. I hope all fathers and father figures had a wonderful Father’s Day on Sunday.
On Sunday, for the second consecutive year, our nation also celebrated Juneteenth, Freedom Day. We recognize that Black lives mattered then, and they matter now.

It has been an honor to be your principal this year, and I am so excited for the journey ahead of us.
La semana pasada, durante la promoción de lo/as estudiantes de 8º grado, escuchamos diferentes discursos sobre lo difícil que fue el último año para todo/as nosotro/as. En mis comentarios, invité a todo/as a centrarse no solo en lo difícil que ha sido, sino en todo lo que hemos logrado, teniendo en cuenta las circunstancias. La semana pasada, lo/as maestro/as presentaron sus reportes de un año académico e informaron el progreso significativo en nuestro/as tigres en todos los niveles de grado. Me sentí muy orgulloso del trabajo que lo/as maestro/as y estudiantes han hecho para obtener esos resultados. A continuación, encontrarán algunos gráficos que comparan los datos de principios de año (BOY) y finales de año (EOY) en la lectura en ambos idiomas. También hicimos un progreso significativo en matemáticas y otras áreas.
Antes de salir de la escuela el viernes, asistí al evento de helados y bandas en la terraza de Adams. Cuando estaba tomando fotos para las redes sociales, me di cuenta de que no solo crecimos académicamente, sino también social, cultural y emocionalmente. Nunca esperé terminar este año con tanta alegría como la que vi y escuché en las voces de nuestros alumnos de 5to grado cantando Cielito Lindo. La semana pasada fue una gran semana y fin de semana, con tantas cosas de las que debemos estar contento/as. Espero que todo los padres y figuras paternas hayan tenido un maravilloso Día del Padre el domingo. El domingo, por segundo año consecutivo, nuestra nación también celebró Juneteenth, Día de la Libertad. Reconocemos que las vidas de las personas de color importaban entonces, y ahora importan.
