We hope you’re having a restful weekend. Let us start by thanking staff members who attended the middle school musical showcase this weekend. It was great to see our tigers’ talent. Thank you, Joey Schulman, Purnima Boominathan, Katie Bunger, and Orlando Cruz for leading this performance. We’re so proud of our tigers for letting the audience hear about their cultures and identities. The impact of these stories and their voices inspired the creation of the script.
We’d also like to give a shout out to The Adams’ science department for an amazing STEM showcase on Thursday evening.

LSAT Elections: Call for Nominations
The Local School Advisory Team (LSAT) is an elected committee of parents and teachers that advises the principal and administration on school-wide academic and governance issues, including the comprehensive school plan and the proposed school budget.
The LSAT will have its annual elections for parent representatives. This year we will have 4 parent spots: 2 English dominant and 2 Spanish dominant. Out of these 4 spots, we need 2 to represent the Oyster campus and 2 to represent the Adams campus (particularly Middle School).
If you are interested in nominating yourself or someone else, please send those nominations to: lsat@oysteradams.org by Friday 2 June.
If you nominate someone else, please check with them that they agree to be nominated.
Nominations should include:
- Name of person and grades of their children at OA
- Spanish or English dominant
- Short bio of nominee and why she/he should be elected to LSAT.
- Photo of nominee
Announcements and Reminders
- This Thursday, the US Deputy Secretary of Education will visit Adams from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Deputy Marten will finalize her national tour “Raise the Bar: Lead the World” at Adams and we’d like to show all the good things we do at school.
- This is a reminder about voting for the design of one of our 5th graders who won the Doodle for Google “state” competition (the logo for Google Homepage). Please share the following link though your newsletters and, if you feel comfortable doing so, through your social media.
- This is a reminder that the SIT team will meet virtually on Tuesday, May 23 at 3:30 p.m. On behalf of our school community, we’d like thank parents and staff members for their advocacy, time, and coordinated effort in the best interest of our students. The design team processed all feedback and questions presented to them to come up with the finalized selected concept design. This will be shared on Tuesday. The team will focus on the interior layout.
- Join us for a cafecito at Oyster this Wednesday, May 24 at 9:00 a.m.
- Next week we’ll announce the new date for the Town Hall for Adams.
- Please return your library books! The library will stop checking books out to students on June 9. Parents, please help your students get their books returned before the last week of classes. If you have questions or if you do not know whether your child still has library books, please email Ms. Kleinmann or Mr. Burch.
- Transportation Form: If you have not filled out the transportation survey, please complete this transportation form. This is only for students in grades 4-8 in the school year 2023-24. The tentative schedules have been added to the forms.
- Enrollment: We’re happy to announce that we reached the 70% enrollment benchmark last week, and we still need to reach the 100% mark to have a better planning structure. This is the form to complete the process, and if you need any kind of support, stop by the school to get in-person support from our staff members at the main office.

Elecciones LSAT: ¡Convocatoria a nominaciones!
El Equipo Asesor Escolar Local (LSAT, por sus siglas en inglés) es un comité electo de padres y maestr@s que asesora al director y la administración sobre asuntos académicos y de gobernanza de toda la escuela, incluido el plan escolar integral y el presupuesto escolar propuesto.
El LSAT tendrá sus elecciones anuales y se buscan representantes de los padres. Este año tendremos 4 puestos para padres: 2 con dominio del inglés y 2 con dominio del español. De estos 4 puestos, necesitamos 2 para representar el campus de Oyster y 2 para representar el campus de Adams (particularmente la escuela media)
Si está interesad@ en nominarse a sí mismo o a otra persona, envíe sus nominaciones a: lsat@oysteradams.org antes del viernes 2 junio.
¡Si nomina a otra persona, verifique con ella que esté de acuerdo en ser nominado!
