We would like to provide an update on our latest meeting for the Adams Modernization. Yesterday, the SIT committee had the opportunity to participate in the concept design presentation, and the results from two community and SIT’s input activities (physical model and the survey graphic board). This happened during the last parent-teacher conferences. Attached you will find a copy of the presentation for your reference.
We also learned about the site analysis: the existing conditions, topography, solar path, high adjacency, setbacks, historic elements, and scale.
One of the biggest takeaways from the meeting was that we will increase the capacity of the school, by adding more classrooms and working spaces. One of the goals of this renovation is to maximize any currently underused physical spaces.
We also learned about the three different proposed models (see image below). In those proposed models there is an addition to a separate space for the library, and the creation of an additional gym or cafeteria/auditorium. The team presented some of the infrastructure, budget, and preservation constraints we have for alternative models.
As for what is next, the SIT committee will participate in a concept design feedback meeting next Monday. For the SIT committee to represent all voices of our community, we’d like to share this update and to give you the opportunity to share your thoughts and questions. We will continue mainstreaming your feedback through the same form that we are using. We’ll share the responses with the committee and the representatives of DGS, DCPS, SIT and the architect firm.
Finally, we’d like to highly encourage families to re-enroll their students as soon as possible. As mentioned in previous communications, having accurate information of all students officially registered for the next school year will help us coordinate the schedules for the buses. The good news is that the front office staff and the admin team will be available to support families with their enrollment this Saturday from 11:00- 3:00 p.m. during Fiesta!

Nos gustaría proporcionar una actualización sobre nuestra última reunión para la Modernización Adams. Ayer, el comité SIT tuvo la oportunidad de participar en la presentación del diseño conceptual y los resultados de dos actividades para recibir retroalimentación de la comunidad y del SIT (modelo físico y el tablero gráfico de la encuesta). Esto se realizó durante las últimas conferencias de padres y maestros. A continuación, se adjunta una copia de la presentación para su referencia.
También aprendimos sobre el análisis del sitio: las condiciones existentes, la topografía, la trayectoria solar, la altura de los edificios adyacentes, los retrocesos, los elementos históricos y la escala.
Una de las conclusiones más importantes de la reunión fue que aumentaremos la capacidad de la escuela, agregando más aulas y espacios de trabajo. Uno de los objetivos de esta renovación es maximizar cualquier espacio físico actualmente que no esté utilizado al máximo de su capacidad.
También aprendimos sobre los tres modelos diferentes sugeridos (ver imagen a continuación). En esos modelos compartidos hay una adición a un espacio separado para la biblioteca, y la creación de un gimnasio adicional o cafetería / auditorio. El equipo presentó algunas de las limitaciones de infraestructura, presupuesto y preservación que tenemos para modelos alternativos.
En cuanto a lo que sigue, el comité SIT participará en una reunión de retroalimentación de diseño conceptual el próximo lunes. Para que el comité SIT represente todas las voces de nuestra comunidad, nos gustaría compartir esta actualización y darles la oportunidad de compartir sus pensamientos y preguntas. Continuaremos incorporando sus comentarios a través del mismo formulario que estamos utilizando. Compartiremos las respuestas con el comité y los representantes de DGS, DCPS, SIT y la firma de arquitectos.
Finalmente, nos gustaría alentar a las familias a volver a inscribir a sus estudiantes lo antes posible. Como se mencionó en comunicaciones anteriores, tener información precisa de todos lo/as estudiantes registrado/as oficialmente para el próximo año escolar nos ayudará a coordinar los horarios de los autobuses. ¡La buena noticia es que el personal de recepción y el equipo administrativo estarán disponibles para apoyar a las familias con su inscripción este sábado de 11:00 a 3:00 p.m. durante la Fiesta!
