Thank you to all the families who joined us on Friday for the Story of Our Schools Celebration at Oyster. As Mike Benson told me, “History tells us who we are as community.” This project has been the product of the effort of two and a half years, and not even the pandemic stopped the work and dedication of the group of students and teachers who led the process. I would like to thank Mike Benson and Ana Lopez for leaving this legacy in our community–it is an amazing permanent exhibition at the Oyster campus.
I would also like to recognize all of our 8th graders who took one of the most rigorous (college credit) assessments this week, the Advanced Placement Spanish (AP) exam. Thank you, Ms. Castro, and all the other Spanish teacher who prepared our tigers.
Climate and Culture Committee As a school family, we remain committed to creating and maintaining nurturing and safe learning environments for our students. Next week, the climate and culture committee will meet again on Thursday, May 19 at 8:00 a.m. at the Adams campus. This meeting is open to anyone who would like to focus on solutions to foster that learning environment.
Where are we? We recently took a survey called Panorama. This tool helps us reflect about where we are, what are some of our strengths and areas of growth in the social emotional development of our students, and the climate and culture of the school.
I would like to highlight a few data points in the following charts. I am fully open to collectively identifying the next steps in our journey to end this academic year strongly. We will analyze some of this data in the LSAT, but any partnership or feedback will always be welcome.
Gracias a todos los que se unieron a nosotros el viernes para la Celebración de la Historia de Nuestra Escuela en Oyster. Tal como Mike Benson me dijo: “La historia nos dice quiénes somos como comunidad”. Este proyecto ha sido producto del esfuerzo de dos años y medio, y ni siquiera la pandemia detuvo el trabajo y la dedicación del grupo de estudiantes y docentes que lideraron el proceso. Me gustaría agradecer a Mike Benson y Ana López por dejar este legado en nuestra comunidad: es una exposición permanente increíble en el campus de Oyster.
También me gustaría reconocer a todos nuestro/as estudiantes de 8vo grado que tomaron una de las evaluaciones más rigurosas (crédito universitario) esta semana, el examen de español de colocación avanzada (AP). Gracias, Sra. Castro, y a todos lo/as demás profesores de español que prepararon a nuestro/as tigres.
Comité de Clima y Cultura Como familia escolar, seguimos comprometidos a crear y mantener entornos de aprendizaje enriquecedores y seguros para nuestro/as estudiantes. La próxima semana, el comité de clima y cultura se reunirá nuevamente el jueves 19 de mayo a las 8:00 a.m. en el campus de Adams. Esta reunión está abierta a cualquier persona que desee centrarse en soluciones para fomentar ese entorno de aprendizaje. ¿Dónde estamos? Recientemente hicimos una encuesta llamada Panorama. Esta herramienta nos ayuda a reflexionar sobre dónde estamos, cuáles son algunas de nuestras fortalezas y áreas de crecimiento en el desarrollo socioemocional de nuestro/as estudiantes, y el clima y la cultura de la escuela.
A continuación, me gustaría destacar algunos puntos de datos en los siguientes gráficos. Estoy totalmente abierto a identificar colectivamente los próximos pasos en nuestro viaje para terminar este año académico con fuerza. Analizaremos algunos de estos datos en el LSAT, pero cualquier asociación o retroalimentación siempre será bienvenida.
