We hope everyone had a great weekend; we continue seeing good things happening everywhere at OA, but especially good things happening for our tigers.
We’d like to thank everyone who attended the 7-8th mix and mingles last week. Thank you for the kind words and for the questions, primarily about the Adams renovation and field trips. We’re working on gathering all the information to make it available to the community.
Strengthening our community
We will continue celebrating the Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month until Oct. 15, and we’ll continue elevating the contributions and pride of the H&L culture for the rest of the year. The is also the last reminder about letting your son or daughter been part of the collage that Ms. Palacios is organizing. Please complete the following short form if that is the case.
We’re so happy to bring some traditional events that support this commitment, such as La Noche on Oct. 14. Through the following link you will find more information and the request for your support as a volunteer.
Starting on Oct. 31, we will also host two main events: Spirit Week and the in-person Book Fair. Please see the message here with a request for your support to make this happen. We are in search of volunteers.
These types of events help us remember that we can build authentic school communities that are not defined by where we live, the place of origin, our socio-economic status, or the first language we speak. We’re all a school family.
Universal Screening is over
At the beginning of the year, we shared the main goal for this year along with the four priorities. With the support of different staff and members of the community, we’ve designed a strategic plan to accomplish our vision. The OA Comprehensive school plan contains specific strategies, measurable goals (when possible), metrics based on standardized surveys and assessments, and a progress monitoring tool.
Last Friday was the last day for teachers to complete the universal screening of our tigers. What this means is that we tested all students in almost all content areas. Teachers will share the results in this week’s Parent Teacher Conferences. The scores that students obtained will help us identify the baselines and targets for our growth goals. We’ve also designed all the additional interventions that will support our students in achieving those goals.
Immunization
Please make sure that our students have up to date all immunization records at school. This is to keep everyone safe. If you have a specific question, feel free to reach out to our nurses at each campus.
Chris Baez
It is with deep sadness that we share that a member of our school community passed away a few weeks ago. Chris was an OCA counselor for several years and he was well known by our students and families. Please see the message shared by OCA. We’re coordinating a moment of silence at school, and you’ll receive more information about it.
I hope everyone has a great short week, and please remember that students will not have classes on Thursday, Friday, and Monday. This is due to PTC, teachers’ PD, and observance of Indigenous People’s Day.

Esperamos que todo/as hayan tenido un gran fin de semana; seguimos viendo cosas buenas sucediendo en todas partes en OA, pero especialmente cosas buenas que suceden para nuestro/as tigres.
Nos gustaría agradecer a todo/as lo/as que asistieron en el Mix and Mingle de 7-8 la semana pasada. Gracias por las amables palabras y por las preguntas, principalmente sobre la renovación de Adams y las excursiones. Estamos trabajando en la recopilación de toda la información para ponerla a disposición de la comunidad.
Fortaleciendo nuestra comunidad
Continuaremos celebrando el Mes de la Herencia Hispana y Latina hasta el 15 de octubre, y seguiremos elevando las contribuciones y el orgullo de la cultura de H&L por el resto del año. Este es el último recordatorio de la oportunidad para que su hijo/a haga parte dl collage de fotos. Por favor, completen el siguiente breve formulario si ese es el caso.
Estamos muy contento/as de traer algunos eventos tradicionales que apoyan este compromiso, como La Noche el 14 de octubre. A través del siguiente enlace encontraran más información y la solicitud de su apoyo como voluntario/as.
A partir del 31 de octubre, también organizaremos dos eventos principales: la Semana del Espíritu OA y la Feria del Libro en persona. En este enlace verá una solicitud para apoyar para que esto suceda.
Este tipo de eventos nos ayudan a recordar que podemos construir auténticas comunidades escolares que no están definidas por el lugar donde vivimos, el lugar de origen, nuestro estatus socioeconómico o el primer idioma que hablamos. Todo/as somos una familia escolar.
Pruebas iniciales han terminado
A principios de año, compartimos el objetivo principal para este año junto con las cuatro prioridades. Con el apoyo de diferentes miembros del personal y miembros de la comunidad, hemos diseñado un plan estratégico para lograr nuestra visión. El plan escolar integral de OA contiene estrategias específicas, metas medibles (cuando sea posible), métricas basadas en encuestas y evaluaciones estandarizadas, y una herramienta de monitoreo del progreso.
El viernes pasado fue el último día para que lo/as maestro/as completaran la prueba universal de nuestro/as tigres. Lo que esto significa es que le hicimos pruebas a todo/as lo/as estudiantes en casi todas las áreas de contenido. Lo/as maestro/as compartirán los resultados en las Conferencias de Padres y Maestro/as de esta semana. Los puntajes que lo/as estudiantes obtuvieron nos ayudarán a identificar las líneas de base y las metas para nuestros objetivos de crecimiento. También hemos diseñado todas las intervenciones adicionales que ayudarán a nuestros estudiantes a lograr esos objetivos.
Inmunización
Asegúrense de que nuestro/as estudiantes tengan actualizados todos los registros de vacunación en la escuela. Esto es para mantener a todo/as a salvo. Si tienen una pregunta específica, no dude en comunicarse con nuestra/os enfermera/os en cada campus.
Chris Baez
Es con profunda tristeza que compartimos que un miembro de nuestra comunidad escolar falleció hace unas semanas. Chris fue consejero de OCA durante varios años y era bien conocido por nuestros estudiantes y familias. Por favor, vea el mensaje compartido por OCA. Estamos coordinando un momento de silencio en la escuela, y recibirán más información al respecto.
Espero que todo/as tengan una gran semana corta, y por favor recuerden que los estudiantes no tendrán clases el jueves, viernes y lunes. Esto se debe al PTC, el PD de los maestros y la observancia del Día de los Pueblos Indígenas.
